As Laos enters a new era of modern infrastructure, this trip combines the nostalgic charm of Southeast Asian landscapes with the speed and luxury of the newly launched high-speed rail system.

A New Way to Cross the Heartland

The Vientiane to Chiang Rai train experience is designed for travelers who value both time and scenery. By replacing long, winding road transfers with high-speed rail, you bypass the fatigue of traditional travel, arriving at the Thai-Lao border refreshed and ready to explore the cultural wonders of Northern Thailand.

Tour Itinerary: From the Capital to the "Rose of the North"

1. Departure from Vientiane

Your journey begins at the impressive Vientiane Railway Station, a symbol of modern Laos. Our seamless service includes a private transfer from your hotel to the station. Once on board, you’ll settle into a spacious, air-conditioned carriage, leaving the capital behind as you glide toward the northern mountains.

2. The High-Speed Scenic Corridor

The highlight of the Vientiane to Chiang Rai train route is the stretch through the Luang Prabang range. You will pass through an incredible series of mountain tunnels and over soaring viaducts, offering bird’s-eye views of the Mekong River and lush jungle valleys that were previously inaccessible to most travelers.

3. Reaching the Border at Huay Xai

After a swift and smooth rail segment to the northern terminals, we coordinate your transfer to the border town of Huay Xai. Our guides assist with the Lao exit formalities and the crossing of the Fourth Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge, ensuring a stress-free entry into Thailand.

4. Arrival in Chiang Rai

Once across the border, a private vehicle will whisk you directly to your destination in Chiang Rai. Whether you’re heading to the iconic White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) or a luxury riverside resort, you’ll arrive hours earlier than you would by bus.
