Houay Xai
Houay Xai is a small town in Laos that is right on the border with Thailand. It is an important place because it is where most people enter the country after crossing the big Friendship Bridge. The main reason travelers go there is to hop on the Slow Boat for the long trip down the Mekong River. It is also famous for the Gibbon Experience, which is a really cool adventure where you can zipline through the jungle and sleep in treehouses to see wild monkeys!

Houay Xai (Huay Xai) is located in northwestern Laos, right on the banks of the Mekong River. It serves as the capital of Bokeo Province and sits directly across the river from the Thai town of Chiang Khong. Because of this location, it is a major border crossing point between Thailand and Laos via the Fourth Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge.
