Starting with an afternoon departure from Chiang Mai, you'll travel to Chiang Khong for the night. The following morning, cross into Laos, connect with the high-speed railway, and travel directly to Vang Vieng, arriving relaxed and ready to explore.

The Experience

Day 1: Chiang Mai to the Thai Border (Chiang Khong)

• 1.00–1.30 pm: You will be picked up from your hotel in Chiang Mai by a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle.
• ~1.30 pm – 7.00 pm: Sit back and enjoy the scenic 5-6 hour drive through the mountains and countryside of Northern Thailand to the border town of Chiang Khong.
• Evening: Upon arrival in Chiang Khong, check into your accommodation (not included). The evening is free for you to relax by the Mekong River before your journey into Laos begins the next day.

Day 2: Border Crossing and High-Speed Train to Vang Vieng

• 7.00 am: After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel for the short transfer to the Chiang Khong border terminal.
• ~7.30 am: Our team will guide you through the Thai immigration exit process.
• ~8.00 am: Cross the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge via shuttle bus to Huay Xai, Laos.
• ~8.30 am: Be greeted by our Lao team, who will provide full assistance with your Laos visa-on-arrival application.
• 9.00 am: Board your pre-arranged private transfer for the journey to the Boten high-speed railway station.
• Afternoon: Arrive at the modern train station, collect your reserved ticket, and await your departure.
• Train Ride: Board the high-speed train and enjoy a fast and comfortable journey south through the stunning Lao landscape.
• Arrival: Arrive at Vang Vieng station, where your organized tour concludes. Local tuk-tuks and taxis are readily available to take you the short distance into town.
