Embark on a seamless and scenic two-day journey from the mountains of Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang. This package combines a comfortable road transfer, a relaxing overnight stay at the border, dedicated border crossing assistance, and a modern high-speed train ride. Beginning with an afternoon pickup from your hotel in Chiang Mai, you’ll travel to the border town of Chiang Khong. The next morning, you’ll cross into Laos with our assistance, journey to the high-speed rail station, and board the Laos–China train, arriving in Luang Prabang with ease and comfort.
The Experience of Chiang Mai to Vang Vieng
Day 1: Chiang Mai to Huay Xai, Laos
- 9:00–9:30 am: You will be picked up from your hotel in Chiang Mai by a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle.
- Morning: Enjoy a scenic overland journey through the lush mountains and countryside of Northern Thailand. Along the way, stop for refreshments and a short photo opportunity at the famous White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) in Chiang Rai.
- ~2:00 pm: Arrive at the Chiang Khong border. Our guide will assist you with Thai immigration exit procedures.
- ~2:30 pm: Cross the Friendship Bridge by shuttle bus into Huay Xai, Laos.
- ~3:00 pm: Meet our welcoming Lao team, who will assist with your Laos visa-on-arrival process and accompany you to your hotel in Huay Xai (included in the tour).
- Late Afternoon / Evening: Settle into your accommodation and enjoy free time to explore Huay Xai. Stroll along the Mekong riverside, visit a local café, or simply relax while watching the sunset over the river.
Day 2: High-Speed Train to Vang Vieng
- 7:00 am: After breakfast at your hotel, our team will pick you up and transfer you towards Boten High-Speed Train Station.
- Morning: Travel comfortably by private vehicle through the scenic landscapes of Northern Laos.
- Afternoon: Arrive at the Boten Station, collect your pre-booked ticket, and board the modern Laos–China high-speed train.
- Train Ride: Sit back and enjoy a fast, smooth, and picturesque journey south through tunnels, mountains, and lush countryside.
- Arrival: Arrive at Vang Vieng Station, where the organized tour concludes. Local tuk-tuks and taxis are available to take you the short distance into town or to your hotel.
